Clap On!

December 10th, 2007 by Mike Nelson · 9 Comments

I have the “slow clap” down and I use it any time I need to drum up support for a heretofore unpopular act of bravery. Or I’ll occasionally wheel around in my high-back chair and give a nice slow clap to one of my bitter enemies. But the fast clap thing has always eluded me.

This guy has it down.

You know what gets me? Off-rhythm clappers. Get with the program people!

This is why I prefer the douchey faux-beatnik snaps. Cool daddy-o.

See, I’m Catholic, and white. I have no hope of ever getting it right. If a stadium full of us at the Notre Dame pep rally can’t maintain a proper rhythmic clapping, you get… well, this season.

I’m a white Catholic ND fan too MB. Doesn’t mean a girl can’t dream of a rhythmic group clap.

Ew, that sounds kind of wrong.

I’ve focused my study on specializing in the “golf clap”…that soft, polite clap that shows appreciation without the more explosive sound of a full clap.

A note to beginners: be careful when and where you practice your “golf clap”. If poorly-timed, you may end up doing it during Tiger Woods’ backswing. This is unwise, as Tiger has reached the Oprah-like level of being powerful enough to order your death and not face any legal recourse.

I’m glad this man has settled on clapping as his pastime…anything else would be too creepy given his discomfort-inducing smirk.

Well, he needed some sort of talent to keep the focus off his face.

I must say I’m impressed, though. If this dude was born a century ago he would have ruled state fairs across the Midwest, having yokels eat out of the palm of his hand (while smacking them in the face with his other hand).

If you pause this at the right places, this guy almost resembles a poor man’s Joe Don Baker. Except a lot skinner, of course.
