The other day, one of the networks broadcast “I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown”, which, not surprisingly, rates as the second worst Christmas Special I’ve seen this month. Obviously, creating a Christmas special that doesn’t reek of cash-in or space filler is a difficult task, so when I discovered that everyones favorite Kleine Krokodil had made his own Christmas video, I watched it with a nervousness usually reserved for rooting for the over on multi-hundred dollar wagers in a Vegas Sportsbook. I’ve invested a lot of emotional capital in the Schnapster over the past year and a half, and if he whizzed it down his leg with his Christmas video, it would ruin me.
Of course, Schnappi did not disappoint. “Jing Jingeling It’s Schnappi” is his finest work since the original Schnappi song, and features a slightly different style of animation. The highlight for me is the beginning dream sequence where he fantasizes about this dream babe, or perhaps idealized mom (no speaky the German.)
Anyways, in five hours I have to wake up to catch a plane to Rome, so I will probably not be blogging until perhaps the New Year. But I leave you with Schnappi’s Christmas Carol, which you’ll probably still be humming to yourself when I get back.
