If you’re easily swayed politically, you may want to avoid this video produced by Will I Am, (last seen performing at the Grammys despite the fact that he learned about the gig ten seconds before taking the stage), and Jesse Dylan, director of “How High.” At approximately 4:18, November’s election ceases to matter any longer, as the pregnant girl from Crossroads shows up to silently endorse Obama, thus ensuring him a landslide victory…unless the opposition can rally a large portion of the Blue Beer drinker vote.
EDIT: The internet comes through again:

I out-and-out refuse to take political advice from anyone who had any hand whatsoever in the unleashing of Fergie on an unsuspecting world.

I hear ya.
I still say the finest moment in cinema history was when zombies ate Ferg’s brain in Planet Terror. I don’t think audiences cheered as loud as when Rocky beat Apollo Creed.

Ah, yes Michael, I remember it well myself. Such a beautiful scene from “Planet Terror,” and I do believe you are correct in your assertion of the relative levels of audience noise pollution between Rocky and Planet Terror’s “zombies eating Fergie’s brain scene.” Quentin Trantino and that other guy in the cowboy hat are like modern day versions of Leo Tolstoy and Charles Dickens (but perhaps not in that order)!
By the way, Planet Terrorwill be featured on Masterpiece Theater this Sunday @9 P.M. Check your local listings!!
Cheerio,

Ohh dear … that veritable wordsmith, Sir Will I am? (is his name a question in and of itself?)
The man is getting attention for making a song whose words he didn’t pen, and in the 2 minutes of speaking time he was given he dropped upwards of 20 “uh”’s and “uhm”’s.
Question: How many pints of motor oil did slick Willy imbibe prior to this interview?

Everything is relative.
Hillary’s theme is “You and I” by Celine Dion.
John McCain chose ABBA’s “Take a Chance On Me” ( but the Swedes threatened to sue, so now he’s songless, unless he claims this ).

So it’s come to this, our democracy is made up of celebrity endorsements for the candidates, as oppossed to real people asking the candidates real questions and not making a silly music video to a speech that was “remixed” Am I right people? Come on, back me up on this one baby!
Vote for Howard Dean!

Remind me to never inspire Will I Am with anything I say if I ever decide to run for office.
I wonder how long it’ll take until someone parodies this using one of Nixon’s speeches or something.

Someone already did - it’s actually very entertaining:
McCain ‘08
I’m voting Obama, but the Will I Am video (along with his pretentious lower case pontificating) and the fanatic faction’s response creeps/annoys the hell out of me. His follow-up clip with the O-ba-ma chanting was just DISTURBING to me. No wonder why people blow off his supporters as easily-duped cultists! Ugh.
I’m glad to see younger people get motivated, but videos like this (along with the “earnest”/condescending staring into the camera) just reek of smugness backed by limited knowledge, and gives the other candidates more ammo to play with. It’s more undermining than anything.
Still, the important thing is that it’s inspiring a younger crowd, and I recognize and appreciate that I’m not the target demographic. That’s okay. I can only hope that the people inspired by the clip choose to take their motivation further and learn a little more about the realities involved and not leave it at Gap-chic YouTube videos.
*shrug*
It’s not all bad, as it did inspire the McCain response, which I found infinitely more watchable.

I admit it. I’m a big ol’ Pinko Liberal. I like that Mr. i am went out and made a song from this inspiring speech. We need more hope, we need more inspiration. We need people to be able to put a sentence together on national television. It would be so nice if every once in a while the people who were inspired by hope were more articulate. I have this to say to people with a following who want to get a message of hope out through the arts: Let’s get it together, shall we, people? Bone up on those interviewing skills. Don’t do the interviews if you get too flustered on live TV. Something. Really. Come on.

Yeah, I’m a lefty too. However, I have a different favorite candidate from Mr. Obama. Check him out:

That said, I’ll probably just vote for whoever gets the ticket.

I agree w/ needing hope! I am so sick of where we are heading right now I can just scream! Give me change-and a change of underwear while you’re at it!!
Reply from Daniel on March 12, 2008:
Mrs. C. brings up an interesting point: the ability to put together sentences has definitely been ignored for too long! Part of the problem is that celebrities seem just not to care that they can’t put a sentence together on live television. Don’t they think that they’ll screw up their overall message by doing this?
I also concur with Alistair Cooke.

I’m suddenly reminded of one of the opening jokes from “A Boy and His Dog”, when the kid had to recite the names of the presidents, when he got to “Kennedy, Kennedy, Kennedy…”.
If Hillary somehow wins, that is.

Well I was on the fence but this has settled it, for where the pregnant girl from “Crossroads” goes so goes I.
I’m also intrigued to see how Obama is going to “help me with my finances.”

Whatever he does it can’t be any worse than claiming that sending everyone in America a $300 check is going to make a difference.
Reply from SEISMIC on March 12, 2008:
Well-it could be a $500 check?!
Reply from Chris D. on March 12, 2008:
Actually $300-$500 of my own money returned to me would “help with my finances” in a very tangible way.

Hollow fluff from Will I Am, which isn’t entirely his fault…the material he’s working with is pretty thin. But I digress, let us get down to brass tacks here….I think we can all agree that a great movie, “Planet Terror”, could have been even greater if “Black Eye Peas”, in its entirety, was devoured by zombies.
