Rewatch the Wicked Witch (*SPOILER*) Melting scene from the Wizard of Oz, and tell me this: If it were to be remade today by a contemporary big budget director, is there any way that the segment at 1:24 would not end with Toto taking a doggie leak on the smoldering robe?
Now that’s good family entertainment!

True, Conor. And if it were made today, the witch wouldn’t simply sink into the floor; guaranteed we’d get a Raiders “melty-face” moment segueing into a Skeleton Bolognese.

Today’s version also wouldn’t be one long shot. It’d be all quick cuts and zooming the camera around the robe and a push/pull on the witch’s face.

Conor, DAMN IT! You forgot to put the word “spoiler” in the title of the entry, so I read the whole sentence and my enjoment of that film clip has been destroyed!
Before you say anything, yes, I’ve never seen the Wizard of Oz as I’ve been shackled in a dungeon for most of my life, my arms chained above my head. I was given bread and water every other day, barely surviving on that, trying to fend off rats, spiders and lice. After all of that, this happens!

I had the same “doggie leak” thought before I even read the post. And you know there would be a lot more soldiers, but all of them would be computer animated. Hollywood makes me sad.

Are you kidding? Dorothy would kill her with a STA missile after which Tin, Scare and Lion, backed by ghosts from the caverns of the dead, would clash with the WWOTW’s Elite Republican Guard in a final battle for the future of Oz! In super slo-mo, Toto whizzes on all the dead guards, roll credits with gag reel playing letter boxed to the left.
