…Would like to assure you that the previous and somewhat unflattering photo of him (below, misidentified as Shane MacGowan) was due entirely to the combination of a bad shrimp salad (he was on Atkins), a cheap disposable razor (the airline lost his luggage), and some bad advice from Pete Doherty.
Mickey feels horrible that anyone would get the wrong impression and asked us to post this photo of him looking considerably better and wearing the same hat (he assured us that it had been steam cleaned.)
The RiffTrax Blog is happy to clear up this misunderstanding.

Thanks for clearing this up.
Personally I think his earlier appearance also had something to do with one more failed attempt to entice Mike Nesmith back into yet another Monkees reunion.

Who would win in a fight between Mickey Dolenz and Joey Pants?

God Bless Mickey Dolenz. His warm smile makes me feel more hopeful about the condition of humanity given the fact that we also produced the film “Funny Games.”

Mickey Dolenz, especially in this photo, perhaps should share the eternal title one of you gave that sleazy dude with the sister who lost her pretty mind in “Girl in Gold Boots”:
‘Icky elf.’

If that’s Mickeys after photo, I can see why he’d want to get blind drunk. I believe the bad shrimp story, was planted by his publicist.

When fandoms collide…next on Rifftrax.
I used to pal around with Micky (no e) Dolenz, kinda sorta. My first real website was for the Monkees (not to mention a lame “monkees fan page” complete with scrolling text and loud backgrounds before that one).
He is just as disturbing in real life as the picture alludes, but Davy is the Shane MacGowan of the bunch :).

and I didn’t say no e to be a jerk, but because that was always a joke on tour.
We always said Mickey gave the E to “Monkees” har har. Yeah, we were lame. We liked the Monkees. Lame goes without saying.

Amanda? Is that you, after all these years? How’s Zan and the rest?
Reply from AmandaGal on March 21, 2008:
Holy crap, fandoms really do collide
I haven’t spoken to Zan or the crew in years. I do still talk to most of Peter’s crew. The ones that came around later than the old listers.

A bit redundant, eh, Mike?
