You asked for it

March 25th, 2008 by Mike Nelson · 21 Comments

Or rather reader JackTheRIFFER asked for it when he rightly noticed that our blog became distracted from its mission and veered into music news. As recompense I offer Rauchbier:
Bacon Beer
Why Rauchbier? Because I have it on the best authority that this smoked brew resembles nothing so much as bacon. Visit a specialty liquor store or butcher shop near you.

Should have mixed a little music news with this beer news. That’s just MY opinion, though. Oh, my!

All you need now is a picture of Joey Pants quaffing a pint of this lovely baconbraü and the trifecta would be complete.

Apparently, “rauchbier” is just German for “smoked beer”, of which there are quite a few brews:

Aw, I was hoping that bottle in the background was the new Absolut Bacon. Alas it is not. Missed opportunities.

I’m sorry, I am, but I have something to confess..

    I…

    I tire of bacon.

There. I’ve said it. I’ll say it again if I have to.

Before we break out the pitchforks, let’s remember that the Rifftrax community is both diverse and tolerant. We can live with a bacongnostic, can’t we?

On the other hand, Dan, have you now or have you ever had unkind thoughts about Joey Pants? That’ll get you thrown overboard for sure, mister.

Dan, you have only one person to blame, and by “blame” I mean “tear to shreds in a fit of blind murderous rage”: JackTheRIFFER.

For God’s sake, do your duty.

I will, Mr. Nelson. If it takes from now to my last, sputtering breath to find him, I will.

Damn you Nelson!!! Now I will be looking over my shoulder for crazed bacon heretics looking to kill me. Thanks a lot, like the voices in my head weren’t bad enough.

Well thank you Mike! I’m glad you pay attention to what we say… But I am very alarmed! What happened to Bill? How could he possibly renounce bacon?? My God? Is this a sign of the apocolypse?

    Mmmmm. Bacon.

I discovered bacon-beer in Berlin. See my post at: http://www.passionaterations.com/2007/05/03.

It tastes exactly like bacon. And since I’m now a vegetarian (gasp!), I find myself drinking more beer than ever. ;)
