Luckily for Sarah Connor, it’s not exactly stealthy.

I actually know one of the folks working on BigDog (the fellow shown pushing the gantry alongside the robot in one scene).

See below comment! It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who trembles in fear. Or, maybe, is that the ultimate goal?

I’ve seen clips of the BigDog a few times, and I gotta know…is anyone else creeped out by this thing? I understand its usefulness in certain situations (like, unless I’m misreading between the lines, Bill’s quest for global domination) , but I think it looks and sounds like the robotic version of Brundle-fly.
Ick.

Can we call The Humane Association for Robot Thingies to report against that guy who kicked that poor robot thingie in the first of the film clip?

This thing freaks me out every time I see it in action. The guy kicks it down and it’s hardly even phased! It can traverse snow, ice and rocky terrain in its endless deadly pursuit! And all the while, the horrible droning of a thousand angry bees, like some kind of hideous death rattle. Sorry Bill, but I’d be much more trembly seeing your robotic hellbeast than your Sarcos prancing/dancing exoskeleton.

The ironic thing, it is actually powered by bees.

I’m working hard on my hideous bee-like droning, though it still sounds kind of adorable. But really, I’m pretty flexible in terms of who you want to tremble at. As long as you bow to us in abject terror, I’m a happy camper!

Now that I know this robot exists somewhere in the world, I suddenly feel the need for a flamethrower. It’s the only way I’ll feel safe.

Glad I’m not the only one who thinks BigDog looks like a bug!
It’s a great advancement in robotic technology….but it’s so creepy (especially the way it moves)!

That is simultaneously awesome and creepy! I think it would be neat if they made it look like some kind of four-legged bug instead of trying to pass it off as dog-like. It’s already 3/4 of the way there!
They really are perfect for use in striking terror during world domination - you can hear them coming but there’s clearly nothing you can do!

Bill, I found this and immediately had to show it to you. I don’t know any other way of contacting you though, so here it is. Behold the majesty:

I don’t think it will catch on. It doesn’t look like the bacon bra provides much in the way of support…

Finally, a creature inspired by the eldritch terrors of H.P. Lovecraft and the antics of Laurel and Hardy. Well done, gentleman at Boston Dynamics! The race of Big Dogs shall have us in fetters and kneeling before them by 2010 at the latest.
