Over on the RiffTrax front page we’re hosting a little poll to settle an issue raised by some wag who dared to suggest that my bobble head is not an exact likeness.
I don’t want to influence you in any way, but I will point out that as I type this, Chuck Woolery is leading.
Now, I’ll be the first to admit that capturing and recreating the landscape of the Nelson face is a herculean task, one that shouldn’t even be undertaken without huge reserves of patience and several tons of modeling clay. But I would also point out that mine is not the only likeness-resistant visage out there. My evidence: Chuck Woolery’s outsized bobble head.
You see? Not so easy. Rendered in painted fiberglass, Woolery is the spitting image of Mitt Romney.
Whose bobble head looks like… well, Chuck Woolery.

UPDATE by Bill: Legend has it that all white males sprang from this ancient demigod’s brow, and we bear His likeness to this day:

And Chuck Woolery’s bobble head looks strangely like you Mike! All you have to do is put a little rifftrax t-shirt over his golden smoking jacket and you have a product!

Can I do a write in? Because Mike’s bobble head totally looks like Bob Costas.

I still think it looks like the love-child of Fred Armisen and Ed Helms.

You’re lucky Mike…at least no-one thinks you look like Nashville Predators Head Coach, Barry Trotz.
Because, as much as you hate to admit it, there is a resemblance there. And lets face it, having the last name ‘Trotz’ is funny.

It also kind of looks like John Kerry and Craig Bierko. Your bobblehead is basically like the daughter on My Two Dads. Who knows where it came from?

See, I think Romney’s bobblehead (not the man, whose head has never bobbled IN HIS LIFE) looks exactly like John Kerry. Must be a Massachusetts thing.
Reply from Kris on May 8, 2008:
As a Massachusetts native, I am deeply offended. Must you mock our limited gene pool and subpar national political success, Bill? Be kind: we’re still getting over Chappaquiddick.
Reply from Hugh on May 8, 2008:
Bill, I thought Mitt’s looked like Kerry too. Conspiracy theories, anyone?
Reply from Courtney on May 8, 2008:
You know that might actually be what lead me to my Mike’s Bobblehead = John Kerry conclusion.
Answer: Mike, Mitt, and Kerry are all the same person. Has anyone ever seen them all in one room together? Thought not. Also, soylent green is people.

Props to Courtney for working a Staci Keanan reference into this!

I was gonna say the mega-Woolery-bobble looks more like a pudgy Fred Willard. And I do have to register pro-wag - the Nelson bobble could be a little more Nelson-y. Maybe this sounds harsh, coming so soon after my outcry on Old/New Nelson a few entries back - but maybe the two issues are somehow related?! Mike’s newfound interest in naked prop comics has somehow warped his metaphysical being, rendering 3-D capture impossible, similar to how vampires don’t have reflections?
On the other hand, that’s a pritty nice looking Disembaudio.

For years, I was convinced that Mike Nelson and Chuck Wollery were the same person.
Boy, I sure hope Bridget never made that mistake!

With the smile, he looks like a young Jerry Lewis.

It looks nothing like Garth Brooks, and yet everything like Chris Gaines. How do you account for that?

I don’t know but I still think that bobblehead looks like Matt Damon, with the square head and all. Or am I just thinking of Disembodio.

Chuck Woolery’s huge bobblehead looks like veteran character actor Chuck McCann, especially in the nose and double chin. Hey, why does a bobblehead have a double chin, anyway?

I’ve long thought it resembled The Daily Show’s Jason Jones.

Here’s what you do: get the mold of Jason Bay’s bobblehead (of the Pittsburgh Pirates, the only team to spend more on bobbleheads than players), since they are already in great supply, and he looks enough like Mike that his head should work.

I think it’s the eyebrows. They’re painted too dark! If Chuck Woolery had sandy brown hair, Mike would be his twin.

Did anyone else notice Chuck’s giant bobblehead’s name tag says “CHUCK I’m Hi”??? And by the glassy stare and goofy grin I’m inclined to agree
