Want Some?

May 18th, 2008 by Kevin Murphy · 29 Comments

You’re drooling, aren’t you. Unless you’re a vegan – which is just fine – there’s no better way to get close to your dinner than to catch it, cook it and celebrate its passing with Tobasco, sweet potato fries and a cold IPA. If I were you, I’d log off, grab a rod and get out there before I land them all. And no, I won’t tell you where I fish.

Not like there’s lack of options in Minnesota, but I gotta go with Prior Lake for my fishing of choice.

You know, with you guys, I can never tell when something’s a Photoshop and when it’s not.

Them vegans don’t know what they’re missing… They will never know the joy of spending hours on a lake waiting for a big piece of bean curd to take the bait, having to struggle and reel it’s bean-curd-y body in, gut it… they’ll never know…

I’m all about the fishing – just not the gutting. I’m a catch-and-release guy. In other words, I’m willing to jab a sharp metal object into a fish’s lip, but when blood comes into the picture, I’m no longer up for the sport.

Nice minnow Kevin…..Now, seriously, show us the fish you caught using that bait. ;)

I’m with you on the Tabasco, sweet-potato fries, and IPA (Keith’s if you’ve got it, Kevin). You can have all of the fish, though. Perhaps a nice fetal duck egg, instead?

This picture, actually, answers a long-held question for me: “Does Kevin wear his skull ring while fishing?”

  • 8 Walter on May 18, 2008 at 4:10 pm

    Or his skull shirt…

You’re gonna need more than just that one. It’s funny you should post this today. My husband and son just left for a little evening fishing. Did you photoshop that fish’s eye?

  • 10 Kevin Murphy on May 18, 2008 at 4:38 pm

I have a trick, you know: hold the fish out away from me so the scale increases. Works every time.

No Photoshopping – you’re looking at the reason they call it a walleye.

  • 12 RemmieBarrow on May 18, 2008 at 4:59 pm

    Is there a size limit?

  • 13 RemmieBarrow on May 18, 2008 at 5:00 pm

Or a limit of how many you can catch?

  • 14 MikeP on May 18, 2008 at 5:39 pm

It also makes your fingers look like huge.

  • 15 Tork_110 on May 18, 2008 at 7:15 pm

Now slap somebody with it! Heh heh.

  • 16 Lord Bob on May 18, 2008 at 10:03 pm

I nominate Fish for the next guest riffer.

After all, you’d only have to pay him… scale! Hey-o! Wakka-wakka-wakka voip! And so on.

I don’t understand. What part of it do you get bacon from?

  • 18 Melman on May 19, 2008 at 3:50 am

    The bacon part.

  • 19 Ben on May 19, 2008 at 5:42 am

Kind of a mutated looking fish there. Is this lake somewhere near a nuclear power plant perhaps?

  • 20 Casey on May 19, 2008 at 5:54 am

    It’s Kevroy!…Kevroy…. Kevroy.

  • 21 Libby on May 19, 2008 at 6:14 am

It does have a sort of unearthly glow to it that made me wonder about photoshopping. But then, looking closely at the left edge of your person, you do too. Kevin, are you an entity that only exists in photoshop and/or part walleye?

  • 22 Rob T Firefly on May 19, 2008 at 6:20 am

    Abe Vigoda, ladies and gentlemen!

  • 23 Joshdg on May 19, 2008 at 6:22 am

Actually, Kevin, the increased scale thing is a myth.

No matter how far you hold the fish away from your body, it will always have the same number of scales.

I see your logic….so it looks like shad, but it is really just a minnow. Got it! Thanks!

  • 25 Tork_110 on May 19, 2008 at 6:46 am

    I want an answer!

  • 26 Courtney on May 19, 2008 at 7:34 am

I want very much to never again come to this site and see the headline “Want some?” It makes me very confused and scared.

  • 27 Barry on May 19, 2008 at 8:32 am

  • 28 R.A. Roth on May 19, 2008 at 11:32 am
