A close friend of mine had Hodgkins Disease (lymph cancer) many years ago. She has a great sense of humor, and I'm convinced it is part of what saved her bacon* through the whole ordeal. I remember a nurse poking her head in to my friend's room one day because we were in there whooping it up in the cancer ward, for crying out loud. Laughter is just as good as apples for keeping the sawbones away, IMO. *obligatory bacon reference, per RiffBlog statutes. MST3k is often my daily dose of healthy laughter.
