Has it really been two weeks since I posted anything on the blog? Where the hell have I been?
Answer: Cooking bacon!
Friday night it became necessary to cook up 8 pounds of bacon, a process that took a long time, three pans, resulted in more than 32 ounces of liquid grease and finished at 2:30 in the morning. If anyone is interested in repeating such an endeavor, I highly recommend obtaining your bacon at Costco, where a four pack of pound packs of bacon costs only ten dollars, and the bacon is delicious.
Though we didn’t get a chance to create the World’s Longest Strip of Bacon, we did find at least one innovative use that I hope to cover at a later date…

Would’ve been much easier to bake the bacon rather than cook on stovetop especially when dealing with such a large quantity.
Though of course I still applaud . . . bacon!

Thanks!! Ya’ll reminded me that I had bacon in my purse (left overs from dinner at IHOP). I was gonna give it to the cats, but it sounded and looked so good I ate it myself. MMMMMmmm yeah!

Yeesh, I certainly hope your apartment or house has proper ventilation. I don’t know just how long I could live with the bacony smell that is sure to have permeated your domicile.

It looks like you needed an apron, Conor. Actually, considering it’s bacon, a lab coat and welding helmet probably would be better. That stuff is hell to cook in a pan.

There was quite a bit of grease spraying, and we debated the oven method. But this method seemed much more social.

I’m still not clear on the ‘reason’ for cooking 8 pounds of bacon… Are you packing it up and taking it to the Con to hand out to people visiting the RiffTrax booth? Maybe you could squeeze it in a couple of the Mike boxes (there are 17 after all). I’m sure his head won’t mind a pound or two of bacon resting next to it…

Why would anyone need a reason to cook 8 pounds of bacon?
Reply from Conor Lastowka on July 23, 2008:
We had a party and had a butler walk around with a plate of bacon for appetizers. But having it at the booth is not a bad idea. Beats the hell out of free 300 cardboard shields.
