To my lovely, well-meaning friends who keep insisting that I must check out THE WIRE, and/ or BATTLESTAR GALLACTICA…
You have excellent taste, every man jack of you, so I have no doubt they’re fantastic shows. But since I already spend too much time every day sitting on my heinie in front of a screen, watching any TV — even top-shelf dramatic product — feels like being punished.
Besides, when a I supposed to find the time to train for the Ironman, find a cure for Lyme Disease, and create my famous hand-loomed rugs?
And when am I — in my other identity as Gladys — supposed to run my famous rug-looming school?
When? When, I ask?

So, is the cure for Lyme disease looming?
Ha!
Ha, ha.
um…
(grabs own head, awaits inevitable thrashing)

Your priorities should be in this order:
1. Watch TV.
2. Run your rug making school.
3. Make rugs.
4. Train for the Ironman.
5. Cure Lyme Disease.

When I saw the headline for this blog post on Twitter, my heart skipped a beat.
Alas, it’s just Bill.
Whom I love to death, but I was… you know… hoping.

You mean you aren’t able to do all of those things at once, Bill?
Sheesh. At this moment, I’m calming a particularly combustible hostage situation in the Middle East via cellphone, browning a chuck roast, ordering a Hannah Montana backpack online, and practicing my Vaudevillian-era plate-spinning…and typing this with my other hand.
It’s called “multi-tasking”, Bill. Look into it. Some of us have evolved. Geez.

“train for the Ironman”?
You mean, you are really Tony Stark?

Did you say… When?
Oh, goody! Is this another essay test?
What’s the word limit this time?

Yeah yeah yeah, The Wire and Battlestar. Check those out when you have time I guess. But priorities are priorities, sir. And I’m pretty sure you have yet to work your way through the entire series of The OC. So, like I said, priorities.

When?
Later.

Yes, I’ve been falling way behind the rest of humanity. THIS was mostly for my own benefit:

I just started watching the Wire. This is not a show you can just watch. You have to take notes and run algorithms to keep up.
But it’s dang good. Dang good.

Why ask when?

Frankly, whenever anyone tells me that I *MUST* read/see/eat something, I immediately resolve not do read/see/eat it. Maybe I’m just stubborn, but it’s a strategy I’m ok with.
And I still haven’t seen TITANIC. Really. (I presume they get together and live happy, full lives.)

Tim its called priorities http://blog.rifftrax.com/2008/08/07/motivating-motivation/ <<this man could be a great rolemodel for you, first being in that he doesn’t own a Hannah Montana backpack.

When? In between conquering the world and putting on your “300″ fake chest.

Ironman or not Ironman, there is no train…
So, there, that should free up a large block of time for BSG.

Dang it, my ascii train got all messed up…

Bill, no rush on the Battlestar thing. I know every other geek/nerd/dork loves it, but it has all the production value of Red Dwarf with constant vomitous shaky-cam(tm). I swear, whoever convinced Hollywood that a drunken chimp with a camcorder made better product than a good cameraman with a steadycam needs to be shot…publicly…in front of his/her parents. The only reason I’d wish that series upon you is so that there may be a Rifftrax to make it semi-bearable.
19 Marty (Gromit) on Aug 13, 2008 at 7:24 am
I’ll agree that the idiots that think shakycam is great should be shot, most camcorders have anti shake built in to avoid that very thing in home videos.
But, I can only think of a few episodes of BSG that have used it more than once, and even then it was appropriate, in battle (Galactica gets hit by a nuke it’s going to shake a bit…). I’m fairly critical of bad cinematography and have seen very few problems with BSG in that area.
Not going to bite on the production value bait. Oops, I guess I just nibbled a little didn’t I…
