Bacon?

September 30th, 2008 by Mike Nelson · 29 Comments

Look, if this is what it takes to make bacon, I’ll live with it. But somehow they’ve managed to make bacon… boring. This site, one that I highly recommend (a site I found while looking for beef salivary glands, if you must know) puts bacon in its proper perspective.

Shelob and I

September 29th, 2008 by Mike Nelson · 77 Comments

It’s orb weaver season here in San Diego, the time when spiders the size of Brazil nuts construct giant webs on everything that isn’t nailed down. Seeing one outside my bedroom window this morning, brought back shudder-inducing memories of last year’s horrifying encounter: while fixated on a dead spot in our lawn I plowed full [...]

Rufus Amos Adams

September 29th, 2008 by Bill Corbett · 15 Comments

As sung about by the RiffTones in our recent, countrified Song Fu entry…
And illustrated by our friend Len Peralta at Jawbone Radio (though it took him forever to come up with it, sheesh!)…
And beloved by geckos everywhere…
And seen at many a Comic-Con…

Listen to other ballads about other Rufus Amos Adamses HERE, and vote for your [...]

Paul Newman

September 27th, 2008 by Bill Corbett · 39 Comments

R.I.P.

There will be countless tributes to Mr. Newman in the media over the next few weeks, and I’m sure they’ll cover his life well. I just wanted to say as someone who (believe it or not!) loves movies:
Paul Newman was an old-fashioned movie star in the best sense possible. He [...]

Song Fu – This time to teh death1…

September 26th, 2008 by Mike Nelson · 20 Comments

…Or if you prefer “To the Death!” (I certainly prefer it as it is, you know, correct.)
As far as this Song Fu competition is concerned, we must – MUST – defeat, destroy, humiliate, annihilate, dessicate, husk, and then grind our opponents into a fine powder, refine them and use them as a filler for livestock [...]

How many sheds do you have?

September 26th, 2008 by Bill Corbett · 43 Comments

Yes, I know it’s a slippery slope… A blog can easily become a collection of YouTubeses featuring stuff one likes. (Or loathes.)
But I can’t look at the yucky, pink Whale Bacon anymore. The more I study it, the more it’s clear that Whale “Bacon” simply mocks The One Law. [...]

Honestly, I WANT to Save the Whales, but…

September 25th, 2008 by Bill Corbett · 42 Comments

…it’s gonna be harder if they INSIST on becoming bacon:

What’s that you say? The baconization of whales might not be entirely voluntary?
Respectfully, I say this is nonsense. All living things know The One Law (which, surprisingly, even overrules Ape Law):

“That Which Can become Bacon, Must Become Bacon.”
The only measure of [...]

A non-horrible thing

September 24th, 2008 by Mike Nelson · 21 Comments

Nothing funny here, but after a long and continuous stretch of bringing you nothing but horrible things (Timer the cheese mascot being the most glaring example), I thought I would try to present something pleasant. Now, in a world in which the sun does not set on the kingdom of Lil Wayne, I feel horribly [...]

Ah, memories…

September 23rd, 2008 by Bill Corbett · 25 Comments

Besides the delightful, earworm-y tune, what I always loved most about this was how Master Onion’s overhead stink lines were fixed in place. Solid, tangible lines of stink, as befits a master. No mere vaporish wisps for him!
Though in the end, it’s all in the mind…

Facebook Lexicon Detective Work

September 22nd, 2008 by Conor Lastowka · 56 Comments

Facebook Lexicon is a new amazing way to waste time.  Search terms provide a graph of the frequency of a term showing up on Facebook “Wall Posts”.  It’s fun to compare certain ones, and when strange spikes appear it’s interesting to try and pinpoint how come.  My friend Praveen has been going nuts on it [...]

Remember the Old Days, when little kids were all intense-looking homicidal maniacs?

Now you may say it was a bad thing that kids were all intense-looking homicidal maniacs Back Then. But how do you think we beat the damned Russians?!?!

Joey Pants Birthday Contest winner announced!

September 21st, 2008 by Bill Corbett · 13 Comments

It’s been a fantastic Joey Pants Birthday Week here at the Corbett household! We exchanged Joey Pants presents, danced around our Joey Pants tree, drank, feasted, cried a little for days of Joey Pants gone by, and sang many a song of… Joey Pants. (And one about Tony Danza, but that didn’t [...]

It’s International “Talk Like a Pirate” Day

September 19th, 2008 by Bill Corbett · 23 Comments

…So why not celebrate tonight by enjoying a recent Rifftrax release?

…What? There’s water, and stuff.
Oh, I suppose you were thinking all literal-minded, all “inside the box,” weren’t you? WEREN’T YOU?!

Guess that one is a little more on topic (…especially for those of you who simply refuse to do any pushing [...]

Well, I’ve been trying to drop a few – HEY!

September 18th, 2008 by Mike Nelson · 42 Comments

Recently, I got invited to Nastasia Liukin’s Bat Mitzvah, so naturally went looking for a leotard and was lucky enough to run across this affordably priced “knockout leotard” at Amazon.
Now, I’m not ashamed that I had to buy the biggest one they had, but I don’t think I deserved this slap in the face: go [...]
