I have had a good number of Banes of my Existence in my day, and for a while, The New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest was one of them. Staring at a still image and trying to think of a way to make it funny is something I do over and over again for hours every day at work, but my efforts never even warranted an honorable mention from the New Yorker. I got the home game version for my birthday this year, and it is much more satisfying to play with your friends, who tend to be far less droll and more likely to use unspeakable profanity in their captions.
Playing the game last night, this funny little cartoon turned up and rendered the table into a fit of hysteria:
The humorless halfwit who originally drew the cartoon assigned it the soul draining caption “Are you talking down to me, Evans? Because I don’t like it when people talk down to me.” This caption asks you to overlook the fact that it is in fact Jonathan, aka “I Like Turtles” kid, sitting at the desk.
Who cares that the cartoon was originally published in 1995, years before the I Like Turtles kid was born? It’s him sitting there! There’s no mistaking him!
For the record, my winning caption was “I’m afraid you’re just not what we’re looking for Mr. Hatesturtles”

Okay this is kind of really off topic, but this seemed like the most appropriate place to put it. On the subject of New York, are you guys ever going to do a Rifftrax Live in the New York area because I’m dying to see one.
