(What in the name of Sam Peckinpah am I talking about? See HERE.)
We had a week to throw together a song. Here was our assignment:
-
ROUND 2 CHALLENGE
Your challenge is to choose a famous inventor and craft a song proposing a “dance craze” based on either the inventor or one of his/her most well known inventions.
Here’s what we came up with:
You can go HERE to vote and register your approval, or lack thereof.

Awesome song! It really makes you want to do The Ballpoint!

“Whip out your ballpoint!”?
Ahem.
Excellent song, btw. I voted for it. Paul & Storm’s is nice, but unless they give instructions later in the lyrics (didn’t listen to the whole thing), it’s not something you can “do” as a dance, like, say, the “Zombie Stomp”.

Bravo, Rifftones! you have cooked up, like a delicious pound of bacon, a wondrous new sort of sub-genre: ‘punk rock barbershop quartet.’ [not a quartet, but- oh, you know.] your song wasn’t just that, of course, but I could distinctly hear Bill’s spiky-haired youth happily shining through in his splendid vocal.
I loved it! I loved the Moody Blues-oid break in the middle, the audio inserts, and the fearless mingling of musical styles that you brought together to form one happy, pogoing mass. oh, I mean ‘Ballpointing’ mass.
and I didn’t leak while I was doing the Ballpoint! uh, I mean my PEN didn’t leak! [sorry]
listen: one can hear the happy sound of pocket protectors across this great land dying a welcome death as they fling themselves from the pockets of the Ballpointing masses.
thanks for a great song, Rifftones. I’m gonna listen to it again!

I’m doing the ballpoint right now, but I’m afraid my Mom will open the bathroom door and catch me.

You guys are saving these for an album right?
And was that Elinor Donahue at the end?

You guys should make some music videos for these songs

I second the music videos, and third the album… we also need lyrics! How else can I hope to drive my sister crazy if I can’t sing along 24/7? Moon Shine was easy to figure out, but this one’s a little more complicated…

Should’ve been a rap song the way you blinged out that pen there.

Great song! I found the use of auxiliary percussion particularly effective.

When I got to work this morning, I discovered to my horror that my ballpoint — the one I use, without fail, every morning (unless I call off, or forget) — was MISSING. With no sign as to its current whereabouts (though probably on my boss’s desk.) So, this song brings back rather painful memories for me write now. Oops, I mean right. (I miss it enough to pen unintentional homonyms. PEN! Argh… *sniff* I gotta go.)

I really enjoyed doing the Ballpoint, but I think I had to give my vote to the O’Sullivan Stomp this round. They were both pretty awesome though!
