Happy birthday, Mike!

October 11th, 2008 by Bill Corbett · 98 Comments

It’s Michael J. Nelson’s birthday today, October 11. It’s also the birthday of Daryl Hall, of “and Oates” fame.

But let’s concentrate on Mike for now. Please wish him a happy, bacon-y birthday below.

DarylHall MICHAEL J. NELSON

Happy birthday, Daryl! [EDIT: should be “Mike”]

    Oh, and happy birthday!

    Just like Bacon.

Reply from Bill Corbett on October 11, 2008:

“So happy and brown and happy to be brown.”

Mike was simply trying to ascertain what brown could do for him.

Reply from Casey on October 11, 2008:

I believe that he was not only showing what brown could do for him, but for others who have non-brown eyes… who usually shun away from “being brown.”

Mike you have opened my eyes. Have a great birthday!

Reply from Suzanne on October 11, 2008:

I’d say Mike is the whitest brown I’ve ever seen.

a Viking prince, a noble heart,
brought sparkling riffs from frozen North, now domiciled in the sun-kissed South
still spinning, with steadfast chums, the magic of mirth.
laughter tumbles walls of sadness round the lonely heart; unites both ceo and serf.
    it vanquishes the gloom
    of life’s daily toil.

    humour is the unstoppable force.
makes nuns blanch; stops the goon in his tracks-
    shatters botox’ed egos;
    exposes the soulless lies
    of ‘art’ gone stinking bad
    upon conference tables in
    cold monoliths.

    laughter, the magic singing sword
the crackling flame, the sweetest morsel,
a help to those who darkness haunts. and keeps alight,
    for one more day,
the precious glow from the human heart upon the third planet, adrift in cold space, tween uncaring stars.

and so, Mike Nelson, Happy Birthday!
may you receive the gifts of health, security and joy; for you have given so many a reason to smile, this day.

    Well…

    Happy Birthday anyways…

    Reply from MST3Kelly on October 11, 2008:

Mr. Hubbard: I confess. I peeked in your hard drive.
    the check’s in the mail.

Reply from Enron Hubbard on October 12, 2008:

    “the check’s in the mail”

The freeze on my Wachovia account until Wells Fargo settles in makes it necessary that you submit payment via money order (which can be cashed anywhere).

Ken Thompson regrets any inconvenience this may cause.

    Reply from MST3Kelly on October 12, 2008:

will you accept a case of Turtle Wax and a pallet-load of Gold Bond Powder instead of cash? or, you can have what’s behind the curtain.

Reply from RemmieBarrow on October 12, 2008:

    OOOOOO…THE CURTAIN, THE CURTAIN!!!

    Reply from MST3Kelly on October 12, 2008:

    Mr. Hubbard, you’ve won:

a lightbulb, some string, and a picture of Eve Arden!

Reply from Enron Hubbard on October 12, 2008:

(Rips off crudely crafted homemade terrycloth Batman mask )

I didn’t have much use for the Turtle Wax since the bank repossesed my car to pad Richard Fuld’s Golden Parachute, but, boy, knowing one has a pallet load of Gold Bond Powder is enough to make a fella sleep well at night.

    Thanks for the advice RemmieBarrow!
Oh well, my Eve Arden picture will have to keep me warm ’til I can afford to pay the electricity bill and try out my snazzy new (I assume it’s new) lightbulb.

    MST3Kelly, you’re all right!

    Dearest Mike,

If I could survive the 400 degrees that it would take to bake myself into a cake, and also manage to survive the flight to San Diego with little air, and even further manage to break out of the stale as concrete cake upon arrival, just so I could jump out and give you a pile of Baconators and gourmet cat-poop coffee as a gift….well, I would.

Until then, a simple “Happy Birthday” will have to suffice.

    Happy Birthday!!! :-D

Happy Birthday, Mike! But more importantly, have your ever considered John Oates as a Guest Riffer? Think about it, “Mike Nelson and John Oates,” “Mike and Oates!” It’s got a nice, strangely awkward sound to it.

Seriously, someone needs to find Oates’ number. Just like “Abbott and Costello” or “Martin and Lewis.” Hall was the straight man; Oates was the wacky one.
