He’s on a roll, what with Shooter, Max Payne, his SNL appearances. You’d be forgiven if you missed what is easily the acme of his impressive career as a high school science teacher in The Happening but ladies and gentlemen you must take every step feasible to remedy that situation. I would say that even if we hadn’t used it as fodder for one of my favorite RiffTrax ever.
It also contained one of my favorite lines ever, in any movie, period. And that became the subject of this, A Relaxing Moment with Disembaudio. I urge you not to listen until you have been thoroughly enchanted – and you will be – by The Happening, or it won’t make much sense.

Oh goodness… it’s that one.

I can honestly say that the three of you could have simply recorded yourselves laughing out loud at the movie (along with we viewers) and it would have been just as great! I don’t think I’m too out of line in predicting that at least one point during the writing process, at least one of you commented “man, this movie riffs itself!”

It takes a lot for me to consider a movie bad, as in, unfogivably bad. I can usually find something redeemable in every movie. Even in all the other Manny the Shyammy films.
The Happening was the first movie since Before and After that I truly consider Bad. I will only endure it again to hear the rifftrax treatment. Can’t wait.

I really thought that line of dialog was supposed to be significant… I spent the rest of the movie thinking “I wonder when this “Lemon Drink⢔ will come into play.”

Haha, Mike’s repetition of the contents of lemonade reminds me of Crow’s rendition of Johnny Longbow’s infamous stew recipe. “Corn…Chicken…Green peppers…*sigh* Onions.”

don’t forget Lemon Squash, as in:
“A gin and orange, a lemon squash, and a scotch and water PLEASE!”

Now of course, by “science teacher”, you mean “creationist”.

I hope there’ll be more Relaxing Moments with Disembaudio to come.
I can’t get over how genuinely silly and awkward this movie turned out to be. It sort of stumbles back and forth between Shaun of the Dead and The Sixth Sense, making it perhaps funnier than both.

I love how no one in this movie (or really any of his more recent movies) acts like any human being in a similar situation would act. But believe it or not, as bad as it was, it was still better than Lady In the Water. Or perhaps I just hadn’t huffed enough kitchen cleaning solvents to enjoy it…

No, you’re right, it was better than Lady in the Water. You’re probably huffing exactly the right amount of kitchen cleaning solvents.
I saw Lady in the Water in the theater. (I saw The Happening in the theater too. Apparently I never learn.) My favorite part of that experience was the guy next to me, who was there with his six-year old son. The dad didn’t get the movie, but the kid did.
“Hey, was that the MONSTER?”
“…no, dad. That was the lady. In the water.”
Awesome.

I thought I’d never watch The Happening, but if there’s a Rifftrax involved, I’ll be glad to do so.
