November 29th, 2008 by Kevin Murphy · 11 Comments

Congratulations and thank you to all who sent in their Amounts of Something in response to the title of the new Bond Film.  Your responses gave me a demijohn of elation.

November 26th, 2008 by Kevin Murphy · 99 Comments

I’m preparing this weekend to see the latest Bond film, Quantum of Solace, at my local googleplex.*  And I’m a little concerned that I may not take away from it any measurable quantity of comfort which would aid me in a time of duress.  However, I’m certain that there are other Quantities of other Entities [...]

When corporate tools try to make music.

Exhibit One:
“And we’ve got Bank One… on the run
What’s in your wallet, it’s not Capital One
It’s us, so which card are you
Integrations never had a spirit so good”

Exhibit Two:
“You had always a deep strong belief
When you said test your work be probative
If your ad dear friend doesn’t sell
Then it’s far from being creative”

Bless you, Doctor. You have healed my heart.

Welcome to Climax.

Climax, Minnesota, In Polk County on the North Dakota Border (not far from Cummings), was founded on August 18th, 1897 at a time when opportunity, poverty and the hope of having something of one’s own would drive adventurous people to such places.  Popular legend says the town was named for a brand of chewing tobacco, [...]
