Have you seen the new website? Have you made your own RiffTrax? Have you checked out iRiffs? Have you seen that Matt and Aaron from BlameSociety and Chad Vader fame have an iRiff up? And an unrelated question, is this the funniest thing ever?

Ahhhhh. nothing beats a classic Bugs Bunny cartoon. (I mean, Micky Mouse tries hard to be funny in all, but he will never beat Bugs.)

Oddly enough, I never found Mickey to be funny. Mickey Rourke, yes, but not the Mouse.
Reply from RemmieBarrow on November 8, 2008:
I said Micky TRIES to be funny. That means he fails on all levels, just like Paulee Shore or Adam Sandler… or Larry the Cable Guy…or Dane Cook.

After all these years, these classic cartoons can still make me laugh. Amazing.

“Have you seen the new website?”
Yes, and could you please speed up the news.. uhm.. decryption?!
“Have you made your own RiffTrax?”
No, won’t that be infringement if I don’t have permission? I also think I’ve donated enough money for the things I’ve already downl..uhm.. leased. Heh.
“Have you checked out iRiffs?”
I whistled, but she didn’t acknowledge me.
“Have you seen that Matt and Aaron from BlameSociety and Chad Vader fame have an iRiff up?”
No, I swear. Honest.
“And an unrelated question, is this the funniest thing ever?”
So far it’s not polling very well. But maybe a talk with a “plumber” would do the trick.

Yes No Yes Yes and “this video is no longer available”, which I believe is spelled “FAIL”!

Reply from Mike Nelson on November 9, 2008:
Huh? Works for me.
Reply from NanoRiffite on November 9, 2008:
Hmm. When I try it from a Mac using the Camino web browser, I see the initial image okay (the one with the tree stump in the middle of a river). But if I click on the play button I get “We’re sorry, this video is no longer available” in a large black square.
I’ve played plenty of other YouTube videos which have been embedded in these blog.rifftrax entries, and I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve ever hit the “no longer available” message. I’m still getting that message.
(After rummaging around my application folder: )
I see the same “no longer available” if I try it from FireFox, Opera, iCab, or Safari. On the other hand, no one else seems to be having trouble seeing it, so maybe our firewall (here at the college where I work) is blocking it from me.
What’s the title of the cartoon?
Reply from NanoRiffite on November 9, 2008:
(of course, with the grand launch of iRiffs, I have plenty of other things to watch right now!)
Reply from NanoRiffite on November 11, 2008:
Ha! and if I just wait until 4am, it works fine!
Not sure if it’s the funniest, but certainly it’s among the funniest cartoons ever. I am happy to rescind my claim of “fail!”. All my other answers remain the same though.
And to think, hollywood can make a full “comedy” movie, with fewer gags than a single bugs bunny cartoon…

No, but I’m reading Mike Nelson’s Movie Megacheese. I know that is not in any way related to any of the aforementioned things, and also that you’ve probably never heard of the guy. But then, neither have I. He seems like a real lunkhead. At least I assume so, based on his quite lunky head featured prominently (is there any other way?) on the cover.

Actually, Daffy Duck is the funniest thing ever. But you’re very close.

Reply from Kim on November 8, 2008:
Daffy Duck is hilarious, but Bugs is still tops.
Reply from Ryan on November 8, 2008:
Agreed. But Daffy is at his funniest when Bugs gets top billing.
Reply from justhesh on November 8, 2008:
Um…Robin Hood Daffy, The Great Piggy Bank Robbery, Duck Dodgers in the 24½th Century, Duck Amuck.
To trip it, trip it, trip it, trip it, trip it up and doooown!
To trip it, trip it, tripit tripit tripit-tripit-tripit-tripit-trip-trip-trip-tripit…
They actually make a Robin Hood Daffy reference in that Chad Vader iRiff.
Reply from Mr. Slick on November 9, 2008:
Old School Daffy is the best, back when he was…daffy. When they made him become greedy and mean is when he started losing his shine, but he’s still my favorite.
What’s not to love about someone who can ride an imaginary bike and hop around like a mad man shouting “woohoo woohoo woohoo!!!”

Personally, I think that when they made him “greedy and mean”, is when he became one of the most poignant characters in cartoon history.
To me, they didn’t simply make him “greedy and mean”, they made him the most humanized character of his time. There are a lot of different examples of Elmer, Bugs, and Roadrunner type characters. But Daffy is something altogether different.
Daffy didn’t play with the same set of rules as the other guys. While Bugs would break the fourth wall, Daffy would often break the other three as well. And he was never entirely infallible or entirely fallible. He was sort of the Spiderman of the animation world.
It was not Daffy who was at his best when Bugs got top billing. On the contrary, it was Bugs who benefited from playing Daffy’s straight(er) man.
Reply from NanoRiffite on November 9, 2008:
I remember some cartoonist saying “Bugs is the character we would like to think we are, Daffy is the character that we’re afraid we really are…”
Reply from Kim on November 9, 2008:
Hmmm…justhesh, you make good points. And I have to say, The Great Piggy Bank Robbery is one of the funniest cartoons ever made. And Daffy is just nuts (I gotta admire that). But Bugs…man he was just sooo cool, nothing fazed him.
Tough call, but I think I’d be safe saying that they are #1and #2 in the world of cartoon characters.

Those old Warner Bros. Cartoons should be designated a National Treasure. The new stuff leaves me cold.
“Actually, it’s a buck and a quarter quarterstaff, but I’m not telling HIM that.”

Why would you want to designate them a Nicolas Cage movie? They’re not that bad.

I like the new website interface! Except for the part of it that hides the Blog link under the Community group. I miss the huge Blog button. I was initially disoriented and frantic because I was trying to kill the sample video and get to the blog, and the blog link I knew had disappeared!!! I actually had to listen to you guys talk over a movie!!! The horror… the horror…
(Ok, so I’m kidding about the sound being horrible. I LOVE listening to you guys talk over a movie. But if I am not able to buy Rifftrax today, I want to skip to the blog and forums as quickly as possible and not hear spoliers for the hilarious commentary I am missing out on! I also am one of those people who just hates walking in on the middle of a movie. So the sample riffs always create a little noise in my head and I just want to kill them now while keeping them in mind for later.)

I also prefer to avoid those auto-starting samples. With the new web site, it seems that if you’re already logged in when you get to the main page, then you don’t get that preview panel.
