They’re Sizzling in Toronto

This morning, the Toronto Star published an interview with our own Michael J. Nelson regarding his now world-famous (well, Canada at least) Bacon Stupidity Month.  It’s part of an article exploring the current bacony flavor of the internet culture entire. Let me simply say that Toronto is indeed a tasteful, urbane and cosmopolitan city, and I encourage you to visit often.  And for those concerned about such things, it appears that the local Subway sandwich outlets serve American-style strip bacon on their offerings, not the Canadian back bacon.  However after seeing this picture, I can’t help but wonder about Toronto’s latest craze, ur-bacon.

“…it’s raining bacon, so to speak.”

So, what kind of wine would you recommend with a nice dinner of bacon?

At the end of the Toronto Star interview, the most read article headline on the right said:

    “Apartment reeked of dying”

I found that headline somewhat disturbing, given the nature of Mike’s quest.

What the heck was Mike eating before that caused an ALL BACON DIET to lower his blood pressure?

The man’s going to be filled with so much sodium that if he jumps in a pool he’ll likely explode.

I was very disappointed that was not a site devoted to the original bacon, the most ancient and pure form of bacon… the Ur-Bacon.

And here I thought was a convention involving the Union of Rugby of Buenos Aires.

I was glad to read that bacon has been healthful to Mike. Is a cookbook in the works, perchance? …”The Full Nelson Diet” sounds like a winner (like he’s never heard that line before…).

I’m the guy who spotted the sign and snapped the photo. Needless to say, I felt the disappointment acutely.

To make up for it, I’m gathering some friends and we’re roasting a whole pig next month.
