Until today, I was very prone to bitchin’

…until this cop from COP ROCK rocked, and told me to quit it. Lesson learned!

Thanks to blablover5 for bringing COP ROCK back into our lives… and our hearts. Blablovers 1 through 4 never did anything that wonderful for us!

After this, I expect a fully musical Rifftrax, Bill. I also expect you to pay to reconstruct my ears.

Hear hear! …Um, if by “back into our lives”, you mean in a one-time-only, “OMG hahaha I’d forgotten all about that” sort of way, that is. Heh.

Oh dear Lord! What have I done?

I’ll have to put a bag on my head every time I go out onto the internet now.

Man, AWESOME! Why didn’t that show last?

  • 7 Erica on May 4, 2009 at 11:52 am

Hey – we all do things like this. If I were not too busy (or lazy) to go on youtube, I would post something just to make you feel better. Instead, I’ll just say the words: 21 Jump Street.

    Because God is merciful?

  • 9 Kris on May 4, 2009 at 12:01 pm

Holy God. I somehow missed the glory of this when it first aired. But now, thanks to RiffTrax, I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT!!!

I will name my first born son Quitcherbitchin.

There’s a fine line between “Pennies From Heaven” and “Cop Rock”.

  • 11 Erica on May 4, 2009 at 12:15 pm

You know what show needs to come back? “The Greatest American Hero. ”

    That is MY “Cop Rock.”

    OK I’ll shut up now.

    Riff Rock?

BTW – I always thought Cop Rock was a spinoff band by that guy from the Village People.

  • 13 Earl Fando on May 4, 2009 at 12:26 pm

Looks like it’s time to move on to blablover6!

    Kidding… only kidding.

    (And we’re all keeping an eye on you, Erica… 8 > … 8 < )

Is it too much to hope for a mashup of The Greatest American Hero and Ripley’s Believe It or Not?

Jack Palance: Believe it… or not…

Joey Scarbury: (singing) …I’m walkin’ on air…

This makes me long for CBS to release the unaired episodes of Viva Laughlin.

  • 16 rebisaz on May 4, 2009 at 12:34 pm

Oh, that was a WAY better show than “Cop Rock”. Erica, every time you post you take me back further and further. That was about 8th grade.

  • 17 BEMaven on May 4, 2009 at 12:39 pm

A fine line of cocaine, perhaps?

  • 18 Erica on May 4, 2009 at 12:48 pm

Oh don’t worry about me, I’m far too lazy to deal with youtube searches ;)

  • 19 Erica on May 4, 2009 at 12:50 pm

That was the best show ever! Love the theme and loved Robert Culp. William Katt grated on the nerves a bit, but… and wasn’t there a pre-Hotel Connie Selleca in that?

Ah memories…Hotel! Fantasy Island – and the best show ever: Finder of Lost Loves! Tony Franciosa!

Prone Bitching… That was the name of a failed accordion grunge band I use to manage.

They couldn’t handle the competition from Cop Rock.

And yet, this show apparently won 2 Emmys and was nominated for 3 more. Truly, the Emmys are the greatest of all awards shows.

Watching this inspired me to create a new show, “Firehouse Rock” starring Bill Idol, Ronnie James Dio and the one-armed drummer from Def Leppard. Every time an alarm goes off, instead of putting out the fire (with gasoline, suggests David Bowie), they ROCK out in the firehouse to a crowd of adoring fans who flick their lighters in a show of appreciation. Ironically, nobody from the band Firehouse is eager to participate in this venture.

And Bill Idol is correct. Only his parents call him Billy.

No, for the greatest you have to look to the TV Land awards.

  • 25 CrowTeeRobot on May 4, 2009 at 5:59 pm

You know why it didn’t last? Because it’s about musical cops. That’s why. Because it’s stupid. That’s why. Shut up.

but only I call him William.

I remember my dad adored “Cop Rock”.

And it was the exact moment which began the long, steady decline of respect I would have for him as time went on…

  • 29 Jack The Autumn on May 5, 2009 at 10:30 am

Didn’t have a album called “Czech Your Ego At The Door”?

  • 30 Erica on May 5, 2009 at 12:29 pm

    Honestly he prefers Mr. William.
