Bought my ‘Tix on Fandango about a week and a half ago! Can’t wait!

  • 3 Mos Stef on Aug 17, 2009 at 8:24 am

I got my ticket, I can’t wait! I’ve been a fan of MST3K since I was 9 (I’m 25 now) and Rifftrax has been wonderful. I’ve sort of dreamed of you guys doing this live in a theater for a while now. :)

  • 4 mgroves on Aug 17, 2009 at 5:10 pm

    The good news: I’m going.

The bad news: I’ve alienated everyone around me, so I’m going by myself.

  • 5 mst3ktemple on Aug 17, 2009 at 6:00 pm

I’m going, but I’m still trying to talk a few of my friends to go with me. You know the gang. Beford and Exeter. Gloucester and Salisbury.

  • 6 Ben on Aug 18, 2009 at 3:59 am

ok then…”Thursday, August 20, 2009…a date which will live in infamy…” How’s that for starters? Any chance that Obama is a MST3K fan and would be willing to make an address to Congress concerning the movie?

  • 7 awfulgoodmovies on Aug 18, 2009 at 7:21 am

“I’ve alienated everyone”….Ouch! Sounds painful! Did you use a giant probe or get them all in one shot with a large pod device?

  • 8 Joyce on Aug 18, 2009 at 11:20 am

I’ve had my tickets for AGES and cannot wait to show up with my children (ages 26, 36, 37…..only people on earth wittier than they are are you guys!)

I’m about to lose control and I think I like it

  • 10 Cassie on Aug 18, 2009 at 8:12 pm

what a blatant rip-off of cinematic titanic – you guys ought to be ashamed!

  • 11 Michael ("Kruge") Briel on Aug 19, 2009 at 2:49 am

Here my bitter take on the fact that, with me living in Germany and not being rich, I can’t be a part of the event: http://brielmusik.de/node/803

    Poopie!

I’m like *so* envious of you Yanks right now! :D

  • 12 Erin on Aug 19, 2009 at 7:15 pm

So excited about this! I’ll be at work that day but once I’m off, it’s straight to the theater! Plus the tickets are an early birthday present! :)

    Hey Dudes,
I’m totally bummed and wallowing in misery right now but I thought I might just put finger to keyboard anyway and tell y’all how completely horrified I am I’m not going to be at this function/event. I’m the kind of person who is always really excited about stuff but inevitably misses it every time (missed seeing three Broadway shows cause father didn’t get tickets; have been meaning to see Rocky Horror for three years; didn’t see Star Trek in theaters; too poor to go to Lollapalooza (though it is but a train ride away); missed two Decemberists concerts in a row, one FREE; catch up on every trend, thing, or fad about three months too late) and am otherwise a complete loser in every conceivable way. I was so convinced I wouldn’t miss this. I had kind of a theory/mantra coursing through my feeble mind that, having missed out on so many of the cool things about teenagerhood, I wouldn’t be subjected to all the bad things about it – say, having the only two friends who understand your love for Rifftrax and want to go with you willingly dad wanting them to spend family time together which is OK but COME ON, DUDE, ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY and I mean, he’s an MST3K fan and everything, shouldn’t he UNDERSTAND? And, you know, other stuff.
Until 5 minutes ago I thought I had it all figured out. This blows.
I guess what I’m saying is, if you ever do this again, you should totally tell me, like, first thing. And also, you should have some kind of MST3K-fan public service announcement called, like, “MST3K FAN-DADDIES SHOULD LET THEIR KIDS DO COOL STUFF SOMETIMES, AND ALSO, FLINT IRONSTAG.”
    That would be so cool.
    Your Pal,
    Phoebe
P.S. Technically I’ve only ever seen the Best Of on Youtube, so while I’m a fan, I’m also totally a thief. I guess that means you don’t have to read this rant. But also, I was prepared to spend like $12.50 to see the worst scifi movie ever (though JoCo sweetened the deal – Code Monkey forever) so, you know, just testament to my extreme fandom.

You can ignore this if I creep you out.

I am so glad I saw District 9 this weekend. Without it, I would have completely missed the trailer that Cinemark / Fantom was playing about Plan 9.

I would have failed to see the worst movie of all time riffed by the best riffers of all time.

I would have wallowed in my misfortune.

But fate stepped in, and I was able to watch Plan 9 in all its wobbly tombstone, pie-pan UFO glory on the big screen.

I wanted to thank the Rifftrax team for the event, and for the free Flying Stewardess video.

Please consider doing more events like this.

  • 15 Scarecrow_Boy on Aug 20, 2009 at 11:32 pm

Funny when the rip off comes before that which has been ripped off, huh? (On a serious note, though, I hope the further Titanic movies get better than The Oozing Skull, I was a little disappointed in that one :(

  • 16 Somebody on Aug 21, 2009 at 4:20 am

Plan 9 was awsome; a full theater for the showing in Knoxville. You guys did a fantastic job. And yes, please consider doing more of these. :)

  • 17 Pip on Aug 21, 2009 at 5:32 am

Thanks for the incredible time guys! I hope you can get this to become a monthly thing. I was up in Madison, WI and the theater was SOLD OUT. Papers all over the doors and everything. Packed. Everyone laughed and had a great time. My jaw aches from laughing so hard. It was great to hear you guys doing what you do best again. Keep them coming! The “commercials” were so over the top hilarious as well. What an awesome way to end the week. Thanks again!

  • 18 Bailey on Aug 21, 2009 at 7:05 am

LOVED the showing guys. had a great time with my dad. we’re both huge mst3k fans and i’m buying all the dvds of mst3k. plan 9 thursday couldn’t have come at a better time, i just lost one of my dogs whom i cared for very much. So how much of a population does Canada has to get before you three will bless us with a coast-to-c0ast live riffing?

Because I will personally get right on that.

    Repeatedly.

I went to the River East in Chicago with my brother- and bumped into a friend of mine. We all sat next to each other and had a simply wonderful time.

I’m excited for the Flour and Grain Expo.

  • 22 Durango55 on Aug 21, 2009 at 9:21 am

Thankfully, I no longer needed to worry about my berries while I was watch Plan 9.

Great show! Here in Cleveland there were a few incidents where the audio/video cut out for about a second during the Flying Stewardesses short. Did anyone esle experience that, or was it just a local phenomenon? We had some hellacious storms tesyerday, so maybe that contributed to the signal loss? Regardless, it was a GREAT time, and I loved finally seeing Plan 9 on a big screen.

“And remember, future events such as these will affect you in the future.”

  • 23 Kathy on Aug 21, 2009 at 11:56 am

Saw RiffTRax Plan 9 from outerspace last night. I and my friends laughed so hard, we had tears in our eyes. Plese tell me your going to do this again! We had a great time! You guys should do this every Thursday night! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 24 haphsaph on Aug 21, 2009 at 12:40 pm

Saw it last night, effing hee-high-larious!
One question… What was the deal with the picture swap in the bedroom scene? There were three pictures above the bed, with the one in the center being of a middle-aged couple (which, to me, seemed taken in the 80’s). Then, that middle picture was replaced with a landscape painting after the first shot. Was this done by Ed Wood and crew, or added by the Riffers as an inside joke?

  • 25 Annie on Aug 21, 2009 at 1:49 pm

I live in VAVB and my buddie drove 3 hrs from NC to go with me to the flick last night – it was brilliant – I laughed so hard I snotted off my makeup and tore my spleen – my face hurt when it was over and I had a laugh headache – Been watching you guys since season 2 of MST3K and this was great fun. We even made tee shirts for the movie and wore them. Please please do it again! Bravo! Oh yea what was the pic swap in the bedroom scene? Must have been inside Riff joke. And Mike, you are utterly stalkable xox

  • 26 cigarhop on Aug 21, 2009 at 7:02 pm

500 packed theatres nationwide filled with hysterical enjoyment….how in God’s name is that in anyway a rip-off of the failure that is Cinematic Titanic? Bill, Mike and Kevin have been plugging away at giving us quality entertainment for the last 10 years, then the Titanics reappear last year and you say “rip-off”! Blow me!….really!…Blow me!

  • 27 Artimus on Aug 21, 2009 at 10:51 pm

That was incredible! The theater I went to to see the film was almost completely sold out and the rest of the show besides Plan 9 was way, way beyond what I expected. I really hope you guys do another one sometime!

Until then, I’ll be at the Flour & Grain Expo!

  • 28 SharonJoy on Aug 22, 2009 at 1:12 am

We had so much fun at Plan 9 last night. I hope that it was successful enough for you guys to consider more of them in the future. Pleasepleaseplease? Honestly. Great ‘community’ feel to the nationwide simulcast…and guys, next to watching you on TV on a Saturday morning, heck any morning, heck even at night if I’m ‘that’ kind of a mood (wink wink…okay ew that was a little creepy)…seeing you riffing on the big screen is all kinds of great. Love you guys so much, thanks for bringing the hilarity!!
