The biggest story of Comic Con had to be the presence of Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero, aka Johnny and Mark from The Room, at a booth not too far away from ours. Here is a picture my friend Lisa (Yes, I know) took of them holding a rubber duck:

In short, The Room fever here at RiffTrax shows no sign of abating, so as I listened to the back to back combo of Revolver/Rubber Soul last night, I was inspired to make this video, that I acknowledge is very dumb, but it still makes me laugh:

Touching Musical Tribute to Morocco

Some of you may have heard that Casablanca will be our next RiffTrax (it comes out on Tuesday.) What some of you might not know is that back in 8th grade, my friend Andrew wrote a song about the exotic destination that the movie is set in: Morocco. What’s so Damn Funny?!

Jonathan Coulton is what’s so damn funny. Paul and Storm are what’s so damn funny. Put them together, on a Rifftrax Presents Super-Cool Special Riff of the iconic geekwork TRON, and the funny risks breaching its containment field and releasing a wave of hyperfunny that could threaten countless galaxies… with laughter.

Sometimes two art forms come together in a synergy so beautiful, you wonder how your world existed before someone (in this case youtube user tteeddssoonn) put them together.

Twilight Sucks Forum user “estora” unfortunately has a different viewpoint: “I love Meat Loaf — it’s disgraceful to have his name associated with the failfest that is *&%$ing Twilight. It’s about true love, not true lust. I hate Twilight. It sours everything it touches.”

estora would hopefully be more enthusiastic about our Twilight RiffTrax coming out on Tuesday.

Recently I learned that MTV has put online every video the network has ever shown on air. That’s a lot of wasted memory and bandwidth, but I appreciate the completeness of it. Go take a look and give it a try. If you can get past all the advertising, network tinsel and slow load times, you may find yourself stuck for hours. After sitting through the first chorus of “Love Plus One” by Haircut 100, I immediately raised the bar by a mile and looked up my favorite music video of all, made for the Replacements’ song “Bastards of Young” from the album Tim.

Animal Collective Listening Party or Scene from Trainspotting?

While checking out this recap of a London listening party for Animal Collective’s latest, “Merriweather Post Pavilion”, I was struck that some of the pictures looked a touch familiar. So I prepared this game, entitled “Animal Collective Listening Party or Scene from Trainspotting?” All the pics have various forms of ecstasy occurring on a filthy floor with substances scattered about, but was the bliss brought on by Brothersport or sweet, sweet smack? See how many YOU can correctly identify!

Note: I like the band a lot, the new record is great, I’m going to go see them next week, one of my fondest memories of 2008 revolved around “For Reverend Green”, etc. Please don’t invoke Godwin’s law on me.

Something this sublime needs no comment. I first encountered the Cowboys in Finland, where they’re nothing short of national heroes. Find the Leningrad Cowboys online, hunt down the Aki Kaurismaki film Leningrad Cowboys Go America, or rent the concert video from your favorite online video rental outlet.

And yes, that is a whistling solo at about two minutes in.
